Redneck Rebuild 101.............
You've seen the pics of the toasted piston, not very pretty!
I traded a set of ARP F Body wheelstuds ($26) for the Y8 long block MINUS the crankshaft.
Insert used rods/pistons/rings into my weak Z6.
New comporession test =
4-3-2-1-
180-165-175-180
only 10 miles on motor so far!
#3 was/is hurt, still holds its own!

Re: Redneck Rebuild 101............. (B18CX-EH)
scary thing is, motor felt better than ever! Maybe not being able to thrash it for 3-4 months has a placebo effect on the driver, But my son (co-pilot!) mentioned the OS bar needs improving,
It chirped 3rd on a used CF DF setup. I'll take it out and test it NA, best before was 14.85 on 20x6x14 skinnies. If it does better, hang on Martha!
This BEOTCH gonna haul ***!

That may be a "redneck rebuild". But, you sure as hell can't beat spending like $50 to get her back running after something like that...
