Default Redline MTL

Anybody know te diference between redline MTL fluid and SHOOKCPROOF transmision fluid? I am going to drain my tranny and use the best between the two.

Also, how much fluid does a sohc tranny take? (to fill from above)

I searched google for "shockproof" "transmission fluid" and came up with this...

http://www.miatapower.net/w3ar....html

I'm using some Redline Shockproof, and it seems to be getting slightly
notchy when the engine is cool. Gets better as it heats up. I'm pretty
sure this is a result of the Shockproof (I dunno if you guys have seen
it, but it's this thick white goo that's suspended in their regular
tranny fluid), but it just seems much worse than before I put it in
(last week). Anyone had any experience with this stuff/have any
suggestions for other brands if I decide this isn't worth it?

Cheers,
TiM >>

The Shockproof is better suited to a straight gear transmission, you would do
better with MTL in your synchro trans.

I use the mtl and am VERY happy with it... my tranny was whurring like NOBODIES business... the tranny was louder pulling into my driveway than the exhuast or intake (with a leak in the exhaust)...

Now it's SILENT...

Although I've been TOLD that redline mtl can cause pre-mature bearing wear... I'm pretty damn sure the noise I had WAS bearing noise though... and it went away so.... draw your own conclusion...

I'm sure others will chime in...

On here most will say GM Synchromesh is the best MTL out there... I've never used it though so I can't say one way or the other... I may switch to that at the next change...

And if you're still running a d-series the Tranny should take JUST under 2 quarts... like 1.9 I believe...

I like to fill it through the fill hole because thats how you're supposed to guage when it's full....

Even if you don't want to fill through there you should leave it open so that any excess spills out instead of you over-filling your tranny...

also make sure it's on a good level surface... I filled mine on a lift once and it took about .5 quarts too much... so being level is key to proper filling unless you're SURE of your capacity.

Has anybody used the MOTUL tranny oil? I saw it at a store and thought it might be nice as all other motul products
