recharging ac ?s...checking for leaks, dye ect
Right now the car I just bought has everything there for AC, but it needs recharged....the guy I bought it from isn't sure if it has a leak or not but swore it was ice cold before the car sat around for however long.
I would assume it has a leak but idk how bad....I've heard u can use a dye to check it out...and I also see there are fluids you can use to seal leaks.
For recharging the AC does it consist of just using the kit you can buy at basically any auto parts store? and is it pretty simple? And how would I add dye to let it run through to see if it's leaking or not? Last question is the process of recharging pretty simple? Anybody have any pics on how to do so?
I was quoted over 100 bucks to charge my ac lol and i'd rather not pay that and do it myself.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: recharging ac ?s...checking for leaks, dye ect
Start by reading the A/C recharging link in the FAQs sticky. Absolutely never add stop leak products to your A/C system. This will destroy the entire system. There are no shortcuts. And yes, you can purchase refrigerant with a leak detecting dye. But first read through the thread I mentioned.

checked the sticky out....helped out, but i'm still going to be asking more questions due to being my first time recharging the ac....for some reason it seems to be a lil more complicated then I imagined but i'm guessing it can't be that bad...I need to goto bed though i'm about to drop so i'll ask away tomorrow sometime.
thanks for the responses thus far : )
