recently took off y8 head.. ive got questions with pics!!
[IMG][/IMG]is that a auto throttle body?
[IMG][/IMG] the dude sealed the side iacv mounting spot
[IMG][/IMG] this is the head with manifold, from a 5 speed y8, anything look like its missing?
so the dude ended up starting up the engine, and it had a lopey idle, and he said it was because the automatic throttle body, other than that it had a bad headgasket so i just need to clean head of oil and coolant. theyre is no damage visible so im good now.
any advice would help too,

If you will be using any ECU other than an automatic P2P or manual/auto P2E you'll need to use the IACV on the back of the manifold. The 3 wire on the throttle body isn't compatible with the P2P or any other ECU other than auto P2P and manual/auto P2E from 96-00 Civics.

Well, you obviously need the IACV. No clue why he dumped it. IMO I don't think that's an auto TB, I don't know if there's any difference however (I think an auto TB has the IACV on it, as compared to on a manual's IM.). Also, you really can't differentiate between Auto and Manual heads.
EDIT: He dumped it because he tried to use an auto TB with an auto IACV on it. Aha.

I have a 5 speed 97 dx coupe and it has the p2e ecu.. So the green connector on the throttlebody underneath is the IACV for automatic? I'm gonna get the iacv for the back and swap out the auto TB.

It is for automatics and the D16Y7 engine as well. If you run the P2E ECU you will have to run the 3 wire IACV. If you run the P2P ECU for the Y8 you will have to run a two wire. They're not interchangeable.

I just found out the head is from a 99 ex, ill run the p2p or p28. I read the distributors are interchangeable but its not a problem buying one. Im gonna get the manual iacv and get rid of the automatic ****, and change throttle bodys if needed.

Cool, I also read that I can use my throttle body that's on there now I just disconnect the auto iacv and put the manual iacv back in for if I use vtech which I am.
