Rebuilt GSR (B18C1) Smoking alot even after breaking in
I recently rebuilt the engine.
All new bearings, new seals, new gaskets, piston rings, water pump, new belts, blah blah. all stock parts
I used the old pistons.
did hone the walls.
Its in a 95 civic hatchback cx (chipped p28). stock header to exhaust.
its been 700 miles and it smokes alittle when i drive in lower rpm, cant see the smoke but just smells. However, when i get to higher rpm it will smoke more.
When i do compression brake it will smoke alot! longer i do more it will smokes. smoke is white and little bit of blue. i cant really tell if it has blue in it but that what my friend said who was driving behind me. The car does seem to run a little rich tho looking at the spark plugs and the smell of the exhaust when its just idling.
i did a compression test and all four of them were aroud 215. have not done leak down test yet cause i dont have the tools. I heard that my head was bad so i had my friend who works at honda regrind the head rather than sending to a professional shop. he said the head still might still be bad. could that be the reason why its smoking?
oil is not burning and coolant seem to be fine but not sure because my over-flow tank was being retarded (now i got it fixed) so i will have drive it for one or two days more to find out exactly if coolant is burning.
EDIT: i checked today and it did burn decent amount of coolant.
my friend is suggesting me to redo the head, but i want to get some more opinions before i blow some more money. haha
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Your friend could have been mistaken about the blue color of the smoke. If the compression is fine then you probably aren't burning coolant. From the sound of it, you are simply running rich. Finding the problem might take a bit of work, however. Check your air filter. Check the MAP sensor and TPS voltage. Check the fuel pressure.

i checked after worked today and it did burn decent amount of coolant.. its really hard to decide whats wrong with the motor because its brandnew gasket and it has good compression. but maybe the surface of the head or the block is bad. could i get a good compression and still have coolant leak in to cylinder?

x2 ^^^^ did you check the head surface for warpage? or you might even have a crack in the head and one of the water jackets could be leaking into your intake.

its your head something a little as a small rock could have altered your head gasket which could cause coolant to enter the mootaarr then intern givin ya the smoke redo ya valves mane it might smoke a little when you first get the head but give it time im sure thats your answer
if im not mistaken your water jacket is the area in between your cylinder walls and block

If you're ready to take it to a shop then I highly recommend you have them check it out before the head is removed. They might end up finding something you haven't noticed or think of something we haven't thought of. A few of the more helpful shops will decide not to charge you for preliminary testing if they can't find a cheaper alternative as long as you hire them to do the major work you're currently looking at.
