Is it sucking air directly between the IM and head? Like where the gasket would be? Because 96-98 IM have different air properties than 99-00 IM's. So, you may have leaking spots that wouldn't show up on a 99-00 Y8.

shouldnt a hondata IM gasket seal the excess gaps while still keeping shape and functionality?
^serious question.

Yes its sucking air right where the basket is if you spray injector cleaner it bogs the engine down I reused the gasket from my old head . Can this be fixed with a gasket ? Or what are my options

if the old gasket isnt a hondata or similar gasket it is single use only. that is part of your problem. fel pro and similar gaskets cannot be used more than once.

im not 100% sure if they are the same or not, but call your local auto parts store and see if the part numbers are the same. my guess would be to go with whatever head/intake mani you have regardless of year. changing the IM gasket is about a 30-45 minute job, maybe an hr or so first time.

the 2000 Y8 manifold has injector air bypass, the 96-98 doesn't. you can either swap your manifold for one without the bypass (pre-'99) or remove your '00 manifold, tap the holes and plug them will set screws (RTV sealant or thread lock on the threads).
the tell-tale sign of a 99-00 with the injector air bypass is the small hose barb in the center of the manifold->head flange.

That's what I was trying to say:

So me changing the gasket is not going to fix this because it seems like the gasket is not sealed since its sucking in air across the top part of head ?
