rebuilding a old d16z6.
Guys, is it true that rebuilding a old motor even though it has been redone totally like the base with an oversize and new piston and the head resurfaced and new seals that it would have to much compression and would end up burning some oil?
I do want to know that because i got for free a d16z6 (1993)with about 175 000 miles on it. Is it worth it to rebuild? I just want to install a vtec engine in my civic 4 door 2000. I do not plan to go race or do drag. Just a daily car, family car....
thanks

Re: rebuilding a old d16z6. (marcus029)
you shouldn't have any problems if you take it all apart replace all the seals have the block and the head spec and reworked where needed. Assemble it with good parts ect. Expect to spend a little cash to get all the work done.

Depending on the condition of all the key components I would imagine that is a good estimate with stock parts. A block tank and hone usually runs about 85-100 or so. Stock seals, rings, bearings etc... should be about right. I would tear it apart and call some shops for quotes.
