Rebuilding B4RA transmission
Has anyone done it? I've rebuilt plenty of transmissions but never a honda transaxle. Anything I should look out for? Any write up anywhere? I start tomorrow so any info would be appreciated

it would help if you said if it's a 5MT or 4AT and I'm pretty sure it's a d-series 4AT right ? if so just buy a new one it will be cheaper in parts alone trust me lol.

From what I remember you need a special puller (Honda service tool) to remove a main or countershaft bearing to get the main case off. You also need a special service tool to take the clutch packs apart (this one is easy enough to make)

OP, Google is your friend - you can easily find the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your car and download it.

Well I don't have all the d-series trans memorised in my head I'll bet you googled it just like I did afterwards. As I told some other kid, the posting rules do state "list the basic car info related to issue" not every one knows the codes/jdm talk in some cases. Most of my knowledge lies with 3rd gen integra's and RSX's and B and K series. I do however have a stock civic dx and they are similar to the integra's as you know I'm just not familiar with d-series trans as there are SO many.

Re: Rebuilding B4RA transmission
People that have rebuilt a b4ra know what a b4ra. Those were the people I was looking for. Talked with the tranny guy at my local honda dealership. Hooked me up with the "special" honda tool I needed. And as far as the clutches its a universal tool as far as auto clutches go

these videos for bmxa are pretty good. he goes into some pretty deep s . polishing the valve bores, aftermarket strainers and something about a poorly designed valve that may restrict the flow of ATF for lubrication to the torque converter.

How do you even know what is wrong with it? have you adequately diagnosed it with a line and clutch test port pressure test procedure?

Did you even bother to read the thread?
Yes and yes. The standard books also don't cover AT overhauling. It's also such an in-depth process that I honestly wouldn't trust any internet write-up for it.

Yeah, thanks, I meant like the video links I posted. Those are excellent non-manufacturer working guides. Does anyone know of some good alternative materials for MAXA/BAXA?
