in the future i'm planning on rebuilding a b16a or a ls motor and running at high RPMs. i'm wondering if there are any pro and cons?
also whats needed to make the motor run at high RPMs?
all i knoe is having a complete internal rebuild.

the first parts you need to look for if you want to be able to rev higher is valvetrain. such as valves, springs, retainers. i would also suggest arp rodbolts and headstuds. and lastly you can run higher compression pistons to make more power once you upgrade your head. oh they also make "over-bore" kits, (no clue if thats what they call it) basically turning your 1.6L b16 into a 1.75L or 1.8 also might wanna look into that.

i'd stick a b16 crank into an LS block, with CTR-length rods and pistons. build the head with a good port/polish, high duration cams, possibly oversize valves, and springs/retainers plus whatever else is needed for the rebuild. with that you'd have something resembling a type R motor that can take big revs. anyways- high revs can accelerate piston ring wear. (thats why i recommend a b16 crank to reduce piston speed). it's hard on basically every part of the engine and will obviously wear faster than a street engine. but if you're looking for bragging rights or a good motor to go in a track car then go for it.

exactly how high are you planning on revving? and for what purpose?

I mean, are you just building a motor that can handle high RPM? If so, in case you didn't notice you have a honda.

Or are you shooting for some astronomical high RPM just because you can? In that case you need to study on a good rod/crank setup to de-stroke your motor.
