Rebuild advice
I have a 1995 honda civic ex vtech sohc.
considering doing a rebuild for several reasons,
need to consider if i should rebuild the top end or do a complete engine overhaul.
she has 233k mileage, and leaks about a quart of oil every week and a half through the dizzy o ring seal, (previous owner shoved old dizzy in 180' out) and now the new dizzy i got wouldn't sit flush the right way and dont get me started on the timing.. Long story short it needs a new camshaft.
Moral of my question is i want to do the rebuild, should i consider a top end rebuild and examine the bottom end, or yolo this bitch and do a complete over haul,
With that being said should i go the route of a rebuild kit or buying individual parts and remove and replace whats bad and whats worn?
Any advice and any tips on doing this to make it easier is greatly appreciated as this is my first rebuild ^^
Also, would it be easier to remove the engine from the transmission to do the rebuild on a bench or do the rebuild with it still mounted?
Thanks :D

Re: Rebuild advice
By rebuild do you mean adhering to spec engine tolerances, replacing all internals or are you thinking something else?
Low compression non Vtec JDM B20's are pretty cheap and there's plenty of swap info on them. Though the hp might not be much more than your D engine the torque across the powerband is where it's at with the B20.

Re: Rebuild advice
Nothing wrong with staying stock for easier maintenance, predictability, and fuel economy. If you can do a leakdown + dry and wet compression test on it, it will give you a good idea whether or not the block is fine in it's current state.

+2 for a B swap.
If doing the rebuild, do it right and be thorough to get your time's worth. The engine has near 1/4 million miles on it. Why rebuild just the top when the bottom could fall apart at any moment.
