Reasonable Price for D series Engine + Tranny?
I was wondering what is a reasonable price for a D Series engine such as a D15B7 or D15Z1. Also what would be a reasonable price for a DX/LX transmission and VX/CX transmission? I was thinking about buying a Civic w/o the engine and or damaged engine and then get the engine of my choosing thereby saving money otherwise I'll just get a D15Z1 and associated VX/CX transmission and just swap them into a working LX Civic.

try that. it should give you an idea on the price. but it sounds like you're looking for mpg. in that case i would go for a dx/vx tranny. i've seen d15b7's for like $200-$300 and the trannys for like $100-$200

You could probably get a D series complete for around 4-500. i wouldn't pay anymore more for that unless it was extremely low mileage with papers to prove it. Thats the only good thing about D series, theyre so cheap you can boost them, blow them up, and buy a new one.
