Reason for burning oil suddenly?
Sometime last month my car randomly started burning oil. I noticed it burn a little an oil change ago but I didnt have to add oil but now lately I've burned a lot, i just checked and added half a quart and I dont even have oil on the dipstick. What are some reasons for this?

There could be many reasons like spark plug tube seals, valve cover gasket, bad piston rings *I hope not, etc..

A minor problem has clearly worsened. Are you possibly losing oil by leakage? if oil is burning in the cylinders, try compression and leak-down tests to pinpoint the source (rings, headgasket, valves, valve seals).

Not leaking oil anywhere but my 3rd spark plug seal does let some oil in but I didn't think it would burn this much. I'll do a compression and leak-down like you said and get back to you, thanks for the help so far.

um..seems like my old 220k motor...burns through 2-3 quarts of oil within 3000 miles....turns out #1 and #3 piston ring was shoot... and all the valve stem seals were leaking...so i just bought another d16z6 w/85k miles from an auto...the **** motor i have is currently getting rebuilt for turbo
