Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's illegal. But maybe the guy whom you bought your car off had white bulbs put in instead of amber?

Is you car a 1999-2000 or did you get 1999-2000 taillights on a 1996-1998?

If it's a 1999-2000 or has the correct harnesses, you can find the amber bulbs at most auto parts stores.

If your car is a 1996-1998 and used the old harnesses, the bulbs might be more difficult to find in amber.

1996-1998 coupes take 7440 bulbs for their rear turn signals.

1999-2000 coupes take 1157 bulbs for their rear turn signals.

1157A (amber) bulbs are A LOT easier to find than 7440A bulbs.

Fixed.

I have 99-00 Tails on my car with stock 96-98 harness. Stock 96-98 clear bulbs.

Havent had any problems with the PO or other drivers. Ive even been pulled over with my blinker on the whole time. And have been in front of cops numerous times. My fronts are amber. Maybe its cause im in NJ and nobody cares about anything here.

Maybe ill try and find amber bulbs.

White turn signals, to the best of my knowledge, are illegal. No white lights on the rear save for back up lights.

If you know of a stock car that comes with them for sale in the US, tell us what model it is.

Bumpin the oldie.

Well I didnt knock on wood, And tonight i got nailed for improper markers. Im not even bothered by the fine, its probably 30 dollars or something. The cop was cool.

Now, Im looking for amber bulbs for my 96-98 harness. NOFX had said they would be harder to find. Maybe she can chime in. Or if anyone has any ideas on how to create my current bulbs to amber.

Maybe stick some amber tape on a small part of the inside of my taillight. Near the bulb. Paint my bulb a light light orange, I just dont want it to turn out red. Im tryin to avoid a new Harness.

Any options? If anyone wants to help search for amber bulbs in 7440, Im googlin right now.

Edit: maybe paint half my bulb orange so it isnt all red and still has some white to off-set it, How hot can they possibly get. they blink. and arent on for long.

I've seen some lights get pretty nasty if you try to paint them. And yeah, they can get really hot really fast.

I would have just gotten the right harness in the first place.

See if 3157As will work. I think that's what I'm thinking of... 7440s in amber coudl be ordered, but what a pain in the *** for some turn signal bulbs.

yea i know, I painted my cluster bulbs. What a mess.

Well i hadnt planned on the 99-00 tails but i came across them for a good price so i got em, Not even thinking about the amber bulb.

Alright, ill check advance tomorrow for 3157A. See if it works.

I found 7440's at autoillumination in amber,

http://autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm

Theyre 2 dollars a peice. I think buying amber bulbs would be easier than paying the fine everytime, I frequant the town i got pulled over in alot.

Thanks for the help so far.
