rear seats...
I want to re-upholster my rear seats in my ej8, Im just wondering everyones opinions, whether to:
1. do it myself? (my mom knows how to sow ) or get it done professionally?
2. if professionally, what kind of cost should I be looking for?
3. if myself, what type of fabric (im looking for ctr style) & how hard is / was it?
Thanks

Re: rear seats... (sk8shorty012)
I would do it myself (as I have done) or have my mom do it :-) It is just the most cost efficient way. The CTR material is called alcantara and is a polyester suede. The black mesh however is impossible to source.

when i went to see how much it would be to reupholster the driver seat for my crx because of teh usual damage, it was about the same cost i remember as some racing seats. Thats all i remember, so i assume it could be a lil pricey, but hey no harm in checking it out.

thank you for your help. I'm actually looking to go with red, since I have some recaro copies in the front in the red color. So itd be the same? (alcantara, polyester suede, but in red right?). Also, how hard was it? Any tips / tricks?

Re: (crazi_E)
I am aware this is not a f/s thread. I noticed people looking for new or replacing there seats and posted that because it could be of assitance for a cheap and effective way of getting some sick seats in for cheap.

Tips/Tricks,
well, I used the existing covers as a guide (took them off, opened the seams), used all the necessary ring holder parts) and just re-sewed. I am by no means a good seamstress but it looks great (although I noticed yesterday that the black thread I used now looks golden instead of black thanks to UV radiation. So get some color proof thread.
Alcantara is a high quality polyester suede which will not fade and can be washed with 30 centigrade and brushed thereafter to look brand new (it works but is a pain to take off the covers) It is highly pricey and has the word alcantara printed on the backside. There are similar materials out there and you just need to see what shade matches best your red.
