Default Rear mount install of doom...

I dropped my motor a few days ago to install a new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and main seal and also do my timing belt, water pump and ES motor mount inserts.

Today I battled with installing the rear mount for about 2 hours and lost. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this damn mount installed?

I am currently using a lift and i have the motor sitting in the engine bay supported a rolling cart and some pieces of 4x4 wood. Would it be easier to connect the rear mount by first attaching the 3 bolts on the metal mount to the tranny and then "massaging" the motor to the actual rubber mount?

Any suggestions from people who have actually done the job themselves( read here, NO Newbs) would be greatly appreciated...

LoL it's called a torsion mount, the rear with the 4 19mm screws
Anyways, I had issues and nobody answered
regardless, I'll answer, make sure all your other mounts are tight including the tranny upper and lower mounts
Take off all 19mm screws, and tighten the one in the rear that connects to the subframe. Then tighten the one that goes through the tranny, and the bottom two that also connect to the tranny.
It's a proven method, before I knew this, I tighten all three and tried to tighten the subframe bolt and had to pry on the mount with a crow bar to get the screw to go in, but it was just too hard
do as I say and you will be in good hands.
FYI, the reason why this mount is hard to mount is because the mount control the vibrations from forward and reverse. That's why a jack does ****, because that only goes up and down. You got to either have someone moving the engine forward or backward, or do as I say and just force it, but make sure your screw goes in smooth

you're talking about installing the INSERT for the rear mount right? my ES rear mount insert need to be trimmed ALOT before it would fit properly. i trimmed it so it sat perfectly flush and the tranny bracket just slipped over it.

Thank you Mugen Honda..I'll try that method tomorrow when I gather the strength to attack that damn torsion mount...

I have the one that is on the rear mount crossmember (the rubber part) already connected, I had problems trying to connect the one thru the tranny and I couldn't even get the last 2 big bolts on the bottom of the mount... sounds like your method right?

I'll get all the other mounts installed and tightened up and try to move the motor backwards and see if the damn thing gives up...

That thing sucks right! Mine took me like 4 hours. I ended up finding out that if you thred all the bolts a little bit first, and then tighten them a little bit at a time they'll go on a little eaiser. A dremel is a must too.
