it's better to let those pro do it.they have this tool like a jr. jack hammer w/ a thin metal spatula to separate the glass from the black chaulk glue thing.

Have a pro do it. Trust me. And I hope your idea of fixing rust is more than smearing bondo over it..

hey its not as hard as people make it out to be. i have been slamming glass for a few years now. with out the proper tools it will be a pain in the a$$ but it can be done. get a bunch of utility blades and a thin 1/2, 3/4 pipe. at one end of the pipe crush it with a hammer, until the utility blade will stick in there. then go in side the car. and get the blade as close to the glass as possible(dont cut interior panels there should be a small gap) and start slicing away. have a buddy give a little pressure up on the glass it will help. start at top corner and work your way around. this way takes awhile but all your cutting is a urethane glue. good luck..

snap off blades just might snap off unwanted.. the trapaziod box knife blades are the best to use..any blade that can go a good 1 1/2"-2" will be good though..and a pipe to hold it anywhere from 12"-18" on prefrence...

i heard you gotta use piano wire or something of the sort and wear gloves its supposed to cut right through like butter even though i know that window weld can cure tough! my neighbor told me this and his dads a body mechanic.

i also heard you use some type of string to install the window.

Using string to install windows is for a non urthane app. Like a S10 rear glass u rap the rope around the glass then put window in and use the rop like a screw driver to pull the seal in and over the steel .

Im gonna try it tonight or tomorrow if my friend comes over to help me.

you can use a wire but will mess up the molding around the window and it can be tough..wire was use when beutel glue was still legal to use...there are alot of ways to take out a window..i just figured knifing it out would be easiest and cheapest...

roping in a window like JDMCRX said is for mainly back windows on pick-up trucks and some semi truck windshields...
