ha ha i was thinking the same thats why i was checking this out. is it so when you go in reverse you can have more light to see. if so i would just use the positive from your reverse light 12v when in reverse only. use it to trip a relay to activate your fog light if you go straight to the wire with the fog light it might be high current and burn out your factory fuse or wire. i will draw a diagram for you or do you want it to be switched so you can blind someone tailgating you ha ha

Yeah I was wondering "wtf is a rear foglight" for a hot second too.. then I remembered...
I want rear fog lights because they really help when backing up in the dark, like when i first damaged my car, it was because i couldn't see where i was backing up.
Kinda like the ones on the Pontiac Grand Am.. bright and low.

that's right.... it's to let other people see your car when it's foggy... from what all I can gather, it's supposed to be red and as bright as/brighter than the brake lights, and is supposed to be on the side of the driver... afaik, some cars just get the bumper cut out like those above, others (eg hatches, for example) have it built into the tail light assembly. Depending on what your car was supposed to have, there may be a factory mounting location in the bumper... may want to check on that.
