Rear Exhaust Rattle.... exhaust hangers aren't working
99 civic sedan, b18c1 swap, stock exhaust.
I got a stock exhaust on it...however the rear most exhaust hanger, and rear most hanger on the frame aren't close enough. In lieu of this, I get a rattle....as the exhaust pipe hits on the what seems to be a heat shield of the rear of the car, directly under the rear seat. The rubber holder is in place...but its the smallest I could buy, and its still holding the exhaust a little too loose...and its that 2" or so that causes the rattle.
I threw a band aid on the problem....3 big zip ties, to hold the exhaust hanger, to the body welded hanger, and that works for about a week....til it gets hot enough to melt them off one by one.
Anyone got any ideas how to fix it? I was going to try to heat the rubber hanger up this weekend in my toaster oven and see if I could mold it to make it a bit small. That or maybe a metal zip tie, or clamp of some sort?
Im afraid the clamp will rattle, as the exhaust by nature has a rattle to it. The rubber piece is there and brand new, but it just does hold it enough.

take it to a muffler shop, i just had the same problem except my exhaust was hitting my rear sway bar i just installed. chances are, they will heat up the hanger on the exhaust and bend it so where it sits properly. they charged me $10 bucks to do mine.

sweet...
I didn't even think about heating up the hanger....lol.
Ill have to break out the torch... I like to give it a shot myself first, and then take to a shop if I can't do it.
Thanks
