Rear disc problem, urgent help please:(
Hi guys,
I'm trying to put rear disc on my 00 hatch. I have a donor car, a 97 hatch that I was going to swap with. Well I just ran into a huge problem.
I am like 65% complete - I swapped over the drivers side fine, I took off the old drum set up off my car, and I go to take the disc setup of the other hatch and BAM. There is a point where two bolts hold up part of that whole assembly... well one of them isn't a bolt. It's just welded there.
I really don't know what to do now, can someone please help me... Do you guys think it's possible to just cut away that weld, and bolt it on normally to my car ? And then what can I do on that car, I'm guessing I won't be able to bolt it on since the weld would have ruined everything? Will I be able to just take it to a mechanic to have it welded again like before?
I really don't want to have to redo this, is there anything I can do? Thanks
This is how it's supposed to be - a bolt on each side.
This is how it is on the other side..
From far away, you can see both the bolt and the weld.

Do you mean that I can replace that bushing (the bushing that's supposed to have a bolt on each side, but is weldoed on one side)? I thought it was just part of hte trailing arm and you would have to get a new trailing arm, the whole piece. I don't see how to remove the bushing from it, it doesnt seem to be held in by anything.
Should I use a dremel with a cut off wheel to grind it ?

You can use a dremel but it my take some time. The bushing can be replaced. So it my be easier to just cut the bushing. Use the search for the trail arm bushing

Hey, I did a search and could not find anything on replacing that part. I looked in the Honda factory service manual as well and couldn't find anything... it's just a guide on how to replace the whole trailing arm :/
Can you or osmeone please find me a way to replace that bushing, if it's possible?

It is possible to replace, and honda usually says "tap the old one out with a hammer." unfortunately it looks like your donor car has been sitting in a creek bed for the last few years, so I am sure it will be harder than that. They do just press out, you are just going to have to use creativity. As for getting it off the car...torching it and replacing the bushing will def. be the easier bet, but you could drill out the hole as close to original as possible and hope for the best. Being that these bushings are usually in bad shape anyway, you might as well just torch it off and replace it. Good luck!
