Rear disc break conversion
I was thinking of doing a rear disc break conversion on my civic and was wondering what I was getting my self into. Is it that hard to do and what are the tricks to doing it? Is it worth it?

I'm doing one right now on my EG. It's taken me 2 days so far and I'll be finshing up tomorrow. Buy a ton of the liquid wrench stuff(I've used almost a full can already) here's all the tools I've used so far:
12, 14 & 17mm sockets(use a nice strong 1/2" drive braker bar and extension and you'll have good success)
A 10mm flare nut wrench(for the BRAKE lines)
and a blow torch on one really stubborn bolt(damn thing seized to the bushing sleeve!!)
It's fairly simple (if all the bolts are coopertive), but proving to be time consuming.
but, look at some of the writeups in this forum(I'll be adding a new one by tommorrow evening)

Mine took me maybe 3 hrs out back, and then another 3 hrs when i did the front.......and that was cuz it was my first time doing it. It all just bolts up real simple.

are you serious? did that include doing everything for the ebrake cables and installing new discs & pads? If so my car has fought with me way too much , I'm almost done though.

I've also spent 3 days on one seized rear suspension bolt before. It all depends on how lucky you get, and how well you've taken care of keeping salt and crap off of your undercarriage.
For anyone considering this swap: It doesn't get said often, but I would highly recommend replacing (or at least inspecting) rear trailing arm bushings while you've got it apart, and seriously consider an alignment afterwards. Since you're replacing a bunch of suspension components that you probably don't entirely know the condition of, it has the potential to completely screw up your rear alignment.
Or, you can use the scarebird brackets and mount calipers to your existing drum spindles, and save money on the alignment.

took me about a good 6 hrs. it was my first brake swap, also took it my time. i replaced front and rear brakes. proportion valve, master cylinder and booster.
once you have your new brakes, you can tell what you need to take off from your car.
its common sense after that. simple bolt off and bolt on.

The biggest problem with this would be stubborn bolts. In which case a torch is your friend, and possibly a impact gun if your lucky.

ya, took me 4 days cuz of stubborn bolts..i even had to take a blow torch to the brake line nut..and saw off one of the LCA bolts..damn Canadian winters, salty roads, and 180 000 mile parts..
also look out for faulty parts..I had to replace both calipers and a bearing because I trusted the guy and didn't check the parts thoroughly enough..because I was in a rush to get on the road for school, I had to buy the replacement parts new, costing me an extra 500$ cdn..FAIL
