real jdm type-r motor?
this is probably trivial, but please enlighten me...
this guy i met through some friends says he has a jdm b18c5, integra type-r motor/tranny/ecu in his car that he wants to sell. he showed it to me and it really is a b18c5. however, here is where i have a problem. there is no vin on the motor itself. the guy says that when motors are imported over to america from japan, they do not have vin numbers. i don't know if that's tru so i'm kinda skeptical about it. he says he has a receipt for the motor/ecu/tranny from some car shop that imported the motor. i really wanna buy it but i'm not sure if it's a clean motor. can anyone give me any info? can anyone verify anything?
please help!

he is a rip off! no such thing as a B18C5 in japan. it is known as a B18C. the integra SiR-G and type R has the same engine code "B18C" but to tell the two apart, you have to look at the intake manifold. the single stage one is the spec R.

indeed no vin number on the tranny for the JDM motors, all seem to have just regular stickers
also JDM motors have only a vtec switch but no oil pressure switch on the actual housing....another thing is that the JDM won't have the extra OBDII sensors (it uses OBDII plugs but as far as programming/electronics its still a OBDI at heart
