I'm planning to buy a 92~95 Honda Civic and I would like to know which transmission to buy. Automatic? or Manual? I'm going to modifiy the car, not fully but just like exhaust, subs, amps, and stuff like that. And as i earn more money i'm going to spend it on car. But i don't know which one's better... plz read and reply. Cuz i can't make up my mind. Plz recommend me...thanks

honda trans's dont really have any common problems... so driving a manual would be fine... try searching the board for trans problems, and see what other people say...

when i was looking to buy a car, i couldn't decide either... but i ended up getting a del sol, stick of course, it's much better... i think... automatic is too boring, no fun to it, but stick, you can do a lot... like, rev your engine, just pop the clutch in, and rev... as for auto, you gotta stick it in neutral and ****... easier to peel out... and you can red line with manual... so i'd say go stick.

get the manual you'll love it once you learn. automatics are for women and old people.

Automatic is way easier, but it sounds to me like you don't really want to go fast, just loud. So that might be better for you. Standard is way more fun, but for some people it can be frustrating. So think about what you are willing to go through for the car. (I don't actually know if you can drive stick, I am really just assuming)

Have a friend teach you how to drive a stick then decide. My vote is for a manual, though. I'd have a lot of trouble going back to an automatic.

manual transmission *stick* is alot funner then automatic. its just a little frusterating learning how to go from a complete stop. the rest is a sinch. good luck w/ your car if you get all that stuff remember to buy a good alarm

i could not stress manual enough. when you get your driving technique down and you bought the automatic you will want to get a stick... and either buy a new car or do a tranny swap which is a pain. also nothing annoys me more than an automatic car with an exhaust, well with exception to snapping rear lca bolts. anyway you can control the car much more efficiently with a clutch.

I love my manual for all of the reasons stated above, but if I had to commute to DC and sit in 495 traffic everyday...i'd be rockin a slushbox
