Default Real ek9 cost..

Ok. I'm not sure where to post this..as I'm usually over in the crx/ef forum.

but..

What would a real ek9 cost in the states? 12k? 15k? Just curious what I would have to pay for one.

Thanks

look to spend about 22k from someone if its registered and already in the states. You could do it for cheaper but I seriously doubt you could ever register it. Buy mine now for 22k

Yeah, unless you what one because it's right drive. Other wise it'd be cheaper to build a replica. Not the real think but at least you would save money and a lot of headache to get one. Believe me it's not easy. I have a Transtop Del Sol, and it was a pain to get this.

ive imported two cars before... my evo7 and my s15... both were basically a pain in the ***... but its doable... evo7 was $35k imported and s15 was $15k imported... thats included fees and taxes and everything... the final price is not that much higher than the retail price... i believe when i got my evo7 that the retail was $32k... so it was about an additional $3k to have it imported...

it depends on what youre looking for and how much... i seriously think $22k on an ek9 is a bit of a waste... theres nicer, faster cars for $22k... but thats just my opinion...

i guess to lay it down... find a real ek9 out of country... get the cost of it... then add about $5k to the costs for importing it... contact customs, contact dmv, contact highway patrol... im not saying $5k will cover it for sure... because you may have to do modifications to have it pass emissions, etc (i dunno what all needs changed on an ek9)... for my evo7, i just needed a tuned ecu to pass emissions and still keep the stock power... (motec m48)... and a few reinforcements in the front because of the bumper/intercooler design...

it takes a lot of time and a lot of money... its up to you if you think its worth it... for an ek9, i just dont think it is... for an evo7 or an s15 that you never really see here, i think its worth it...

it costs alot to get an ek9 registered, there is alot to be changed and I think to legally do it you needed to do more to your evo than you are saying.

Be a waste of money for California, considering you cant smog a B16B here anyway..

Bigtime waste of money, for that much you could build a replica that would be legal and probobaly faster

well theres more... i HAD to change it to LHD... the only way you can legally have RHD is if crash test data has been provided for RHD... otherwise it has to be LHD... so it was converted to LHD... the front end had to be reinforced... ecu tuned to meet emissions (no actual parts changed other than the ecu)... there were some other minor cheap things that i dont remember... guages had to be switched to mph... cant think of anything else...

s15 i registered for race... so i didnt have to do any emissions or stuff...

might as well buy a stock ek hatch from the us and drop in all the money torwards mods and ull have a car that will out handle over power and look nicer than a CTR

or just buy a ek and do a ctr conversion

Just wondering how you got your Evo VII into the US and legal. As there is big deal going on with people who used evolution imports, and there cars which are european lhd cars, are still stuck going through epa and such. So i'm curious to see how your car go into the US and street legal, because its not on the NHTSA Vehicle Eligibility List to be imported to the US.\ http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/....html
Because the pictures of your car look alot like the pictures i've seen of the Evo's that got impounded. If I am incorrect, I'm sorry, but i've seen how hard it can be to get them imported.

i bought the car myself and had it imported through EI... i didnt buy it through them... and not all their cars are stuck... the only ones that are stuck are the first few... the rest are going through fine... they dont know why those few are stuck... they said theres just some hold on them... waiting for paperwork or something... regardless... its just those... the rest go through fine... i basically bought the car myself, had it shipped myself, and then used EI for the rest... i did all the paperwork and phone calls with them and its legalized...

the pics are actually from when i picked the car up... the plastic on it is just for dust protection during shipment i think...

it is difficult to get them imported but EI has all the new purchases sorted out... if you were one of the first buyers... then youre still waiting to pick up youre car...

and its not on the list because its not eligible... but that doesnt mean that you cant make it eligible...

It sounds like it ended up costing way too much to make it worth it for the evo, changing it to LHD just seems like way too much of a hassle.

nah, it cost $35k in the end... and the cost of a new evo7 was around $30-something originally... so it wasnt that bad at all... and it was alllll worth it...
