Vibrating feeling in my civic! help please
Alright, since monday my car has been vibrating and making a pretty intense thumping sound everytime I decelerate. When I press on the gas, the noise goes away but as soon as I let off it starts up again. Also, the faster I'm going when I begin to decelerate, the more intense the feeling and sound is. Also I just noticed that the sounds and feeling disappears as soon as I go below 60km/h or 40mph.
By the way I have a 98 dx hatch with no mods, 160000km, and manual transmission.
Thanks in advance for any help

does it happen when you just drive over bumps, or is it constant? mine does it only over bumps and upon deceleration, mechanics tell me it is my LCA bushings that are shot.

sorry by decelerate I meant downshifting, not pressing the brakes
also, the noise is fairly constant it doesn't only happen when I'm driving over bumps
the noise and feeling are kind of like when you drive over rocks and stones if that helps

jack the front end up so the tires are off the ground a little bit and gently wiggle front to back (basically turn the wheel but not forcibly) and then top to bottom ther should be no slight movement

Mine does that too kinda, does it still do it if you push in the clutch and just coast? mine gets real quiet, so i try not to engine brake form the weird noises.

That happened to me when I had a hanger for the exhaust missing, it was just about right under the passenger side front seat but caused the exhaust to rub in the back almost all the time. I replaced the hanger with a new one and the noise and feeling are gone now. This may or may not be useful advice but just trying to help you out. I figure you would of noticed that by now but if not check it out. Good Luck.

ok after driving a bit more, I realized the feeling and sound disappears if I am below 60km/h or 40mph.
Also engaging the clutch doesn't get rid of the noise or feeling neither does pressing the brake.
