Default Ran a compression test on my D16Z6. numbers inside...

Since its the rainy season here in the Bay i was concerned about how my engine was holding up. Here are my #'s
1. 150 psi
2. 149 psi
3. 156 psi
4. 154 psi
I was pretty impressed by these numbers considering that this engine has 142,280 miles on it. And still running like new
Let me know what you guys think

HONDA's LAST FOREVER!

true the numbers are close but they seem a little low to me. I suggest getting a valve job and retesting. You are actually about 20 points down. My bros car runs great to but doesn't have the top end from 6900-redline that the d16z6 should have, he did a valve job and gained 25 points on one cylinder and increased the numbers on all.

also i wasnt sure if it was necessary to remove the wires from the distributor. ??? would this have done anything? all i did was remove the plugs and wires from the head but i left the wires in attached to the distributor because i was too lazy to memorize the order to put them back in

I have a lot of miles on my civic. I would hate to know what the compression is across the cylinders.

1. 150 psi
2. 149 psi
3. 156 psi
4. 154 psi
:
they look good... lowest compression engine should have is listed by honda with 140psi reading. and spread between cylinders +-25psi

my b18c had 235-240[si reading, my b16a = 215psi, my d15b=210psi, my zc sohc vtec = 200psi.

I just ran a compression test on my d16 also
195
205
208
209
This motor has about 110K miles and has been seeing boost for the remaining 20K.
I was happy to say the least.

Your numbers are above the 135 psi minimum in the manual.

just unplug your ECU fuse or the fuel pump fuse. You're fine leaving the wires attached.

I would get a valve adjustment ASAP. I usually do mine every 10k just for something to do. I wouldn't go longer than 30 though, especially if you rev high a lot. Like Civicsitek said, I gained 20-25 points in #1 cylinder from adjusting the valves
