rain & CAI
it just started rainin around my area... and i was wonderin if i could still keep my CAI on int he rain.... YES i knoe this is an ancient topic... but i hear many different opions about it... can sumone please tell meh if it is ok or not thanks!!!!

if you have a bypass valve you are fine...but if not, you are still ok as long as you stay away from puddles

i think that's why the bypass was invented.
the choice is really up to your i think it's should be fine with the bypass havent heard of any situation that water got into the engine through the bypass. i have one on mine and it rains quite often over here too.

or cut your cai and make it into a short ram intake. and save the other end so in the summer, you can put it back on. thats what i did

If you just HAVE to use a bypass valve you may as well put your stock airbox back in. The amount of hp decrease is just going to even back out to stock.

i wouldnt really worry about the rain i had just bought and injen CAI and was worried about it sucking up water at first so i drove out in some heavy rain one day came home and checked my filter to see if it was wet or anything and it was not at all... just dont go driving in deep puddles
oh and i sold my bypass to a friend an he hates it, it sucks up air all the time insted of when its suppossed to

really? how come? explain.so basically your saying that AEM just wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars in the development of a useless product? what about all the
engineering and technology they put in it, did that go to waste too?

I have been driving with an AEM CAI for almost three years, and I have never had any problems with rain. I have driven through lots of rain over the years. As long as you don't go driving around in lakes, you should be fine.

its like a straw with a crack in it. it will still work, but wont give you same power.
