Default Radio install problems

Since no one vistis the audio forum from what I've read, I'm posting this in here. I'm installing a cd player into my car (98 HX) and I've done all the wiring correct as far as install dr. shows it, but I have two wires left, red with black stripe and red. Also, the cd player won't work. I would check it with a multimeter but I don't have access to one. Does anyone know what these wires do because they're not listed on install dr. and I can't seem to find anything on here about them, other than the red w/black stripe is an illumination wire in 94 integras. Thanks a bunch!

Red is usually constant power. And red with a strip could be anything from speakers to secondary power.

Red is USUALLY constant power, yes. But in fact, it's not in Hondas. They prefer to use white with a blue stripe.
This wouldn't be so hard had the idiot before me not totally chopped the OEM harness.

The wires that are left over are from the car harness. I have all the wires from the cd player pigtail connected except remote and power ant., which i dont have.

Id go to a junk yard and cut the part of the harness your missing out and wire it back in your car, that way you can buy the harness that plugs into it and then just connect the radio to it.

Well, turns out my constant is f-ed up or something. Went to Lowe's and bought a multimeter only to find that my constant is pulling like 4.5 v instead of 12v. So, i hooked it up to the ignition wire. The only problem now is that it erases the memory every time I turn the car off.

I remember when I put my pioneer cd player in my hx, the factory radio has a security plug on it, when I installed the pioneer, the door light wouldn't come on when you open the door but it would come on if you switched it on, I look in my haynes book and figured out that all I had to do was jump 2 wires and it would be back to normal. Evidently with the factory radio it connects the 2 wires for you. I didn't get it why does the interior light have to do with the radio especially when it's just the factory am/fm radio. I hate nothing more than working on a stereo with the harness all chopped up, can't someone pay the couple bucks for the harness geez.....

if you dont have a junkyard local, you can buy the factory harness for about $15.
honda sells these for all the jackers that cut them, or stupid people who cut the factory harness.
