Google search produced:
http://www.modifiedlife.com/1996-hon...-instructions/
Appears that 96-98 were the same. Hope this helps.

Re: Radio Diagram for 97 civic
ok so when i pulled out my radio. there are three plugs. the one that plugs directly into the the radio (white) and two more (green). ive searched and searched but nothing is telling me what those other two green plugs go to. an alarm system maybe? any useful information would be helpful. yes i have a haynes manual and a chiltons but im not savy enough to really understand what this is telling me. i just installed all the 99-00 heater boxes and put my dash back together. and i still dont understand what im supposed to do with these two green plugs. so im assuming that i never got any check engine lights that they are no big deal but would still like to know what they are used for regardless. thank you very much for useful inputs and help.

One of the green plugs is for the keyless entry (which is built into the stock radio). I think the larger one is for the factory optional alarm.

Re: Radio Diagram for 97 civic
Anyone still willing to lend some advice on this topic?
I just bought a 96 Civic Lx (I believe) 5-spd. I was trying to wire the radio since I noticed it kept cutting out. Whoever worked on these wires before mustve thought it was easier to just hack the whole harness so its a puzzle to me.
I see a lot of diagrams say the Wht/Blu wire is for the constant and the Yllw/Red us the ignition. When I connect my radios yellow constant wire to the cars Wht/Blu wire and do the same with the Red - Yllw/Red, my radio doesn't turn on.
For some reason it only turns on when I connect the yellow wire and the red wire together with the Yllw/Red wire. This keeps me from saving the settings for my music. I'd appreciate any advice I can get. Thank you

Youre a legend man. I've only been looking inside and gave no thought to the outside fuses. Do you think its okay to replace it with some 10A or 15A fuses? Or would that over power it?

Re: Radio Diagram for 97 civic
ALWAYS install fuses with the specified amperage rating. Not doing so risks wire damage or worse (car fire).

Re: Radio Diagram for 97 civic
It was blown. I didn't have an extra 7.5a so I took the 7.5a fuse from the interior lighting and checked. Low and behold that was exactly my issue. Im at work currently so I took a short 15 to go play with it. I put the wires in there respective locations with eachother and once I changed that fuse the radio worked perfect and its saving my settings now. Im glad I joined this forum. Thanks for your help man! now I can jam with the settings I want.
