Got a 96 GSR Radio in a 96 Civic. Damn things asking for a code and when I goto a dealership, they won't give it to me unless a f'ing own a 96 gsr!! What the HELL!!!

Stupid cali dealerships. Anyone else know a dealership that's willing to help me out? or do you work at one and can help me out?

You'll probably need proof of legal ownership to get a code. Talk to who you bought it from, you'll need a vin and maybe more.

call aroudn to different dealerships in the service dept. thats what i did. every one wanted 80 bux for the code and finaly i called one place and he just asked for the s/n so i gave it to him since i had the radio out the car and 5 min later he came back and told me the code. i guess he was running a check on it to see if it was stolen which it wasnt so then i got it. u just have to be persistant.

and no u dont need the VIN to get the code thats retarded. its by serial number not VIN. not everything is VIN based

generally they only charge you if you make them take out the stereo inorder to get the serial number. take it out and take it to them and they will most likeley hook you up. the hooked my friend up on his accord unit.

the fist time I went into get a code at the dealer they said it was gonna be 4.00 bucks but I had to bring the deck in so they could read the serial number off of it, but when I went back with the deck they didnt charge anything.. I Bought this car from an auction so it didnt have code in the car but when I took the deck in the guy at the counter said " I cant give you a code since that code is a theft code" and I said "bullshit you cant this is what the manager lady told me to do" & he said "ok" and when and got my code...

all of the ******* dealerships want me to bring it in. so i brought it in. and then they realized what i had already told them - it was in a 96 HONDA. They told me they couldn't help me.

SERRAMONTE ACURA SUCKS ***. as well as any bay area acura dealership.

anyone got a number where they were successful? out of state is perfectly fine.

call an east coast dealership and tell them that you just called your local dealer to get the code and they said their computers were down and told you to call one of the ones on the east coast...Its worth a shot, the worst the can do is tell you no
