radio and clock turning off and on?
Well I was just driving a couple of minutes ago and the power to my radio cuts off for a second then back on, then like another minute later then back on. I look at the clock and the clock display goes dim as if i was to turn the headlights on then goes back to bright as if i was to turn the lights off. Anyone have any idea of what it could be? I already know my starter is goin but havent had the money to fix it and My speedometer never worked since I bought the car. Could it be something with the alternator? also I check the fuses and they are good. What could it be my friends?

check your voltage with the engine running to see what kind of voltage youre getting. do your cluster lights and headlights get any brighter for a second or two? i had a similar problem to yours and my alternator was overcharging the system.

my car was doin this and my cd player just had a bad ground. They all run off the same fuse so the clock dims if the ground sucks. I had to replace like 2 ft of the power wire in the stock harness cuz mine was all corroded

to do a voltage test start your car and put a voltmeter on the 20v setting and put the correct leads on the battery. with the vehicle running your bettery should be around 14-15 volts i believe. if its over that than the alternator is over charging. unfortunately it means you need to replace your alternator

negative 15volts is too high should be at 13.5 and when car is running alternator charge should be .5+ volts higher no more than 15volts. anything below 12.6 volts is a bad battery,

Re: radio and clock turning off and on?
some new info for you guys. I was driving around town again and it happened again. The radio would turn off and on and the clock flickered dark to bright. So I had the bright idea of turning my parking lights and my fog lights on and it just stopped the radio from flickering. Maybe the alternator is overcharging it since more power being used example (parking lights and fogs). Also when I turned my car off and and push the clock button to see the time, it was dim. then I turned the car completely off then just the power no the engine on, push the clock button again and it was bright again. Confusing yes? I did a test on the starter and alternator and battery and it said all three were fine. Could anyone point out what it could be? I done the wiring to my radio when I first bought the car and Wired everything right. Definetly made sure the ground was on tight too. what could it be????
