Default Radiator Question

96 civic ex

I was looking at one of the bottom fittings on my aftermarket radiator, and the one if you look striaght down on the right is bent to the left a little and the hose doesn't seem to butt against the radiator itself, a little space, I tried to push it on but since there is a bend. Is this right?

I look at one online, and some have fittings that are bent up?

What? Does it leak? If not then you're fine.

It was leaking slightly, had a hose clamp on it, I was tightening down, hard to reach from the top and then noticed the bend to the left. I was able to get a flat head screw driver on it the best I could, I was in a hurry this morning. I wanted to see if that bend is normal because it was hard to get the hose flush with the body of the radiator.

How would we know? All we know it's "aftermarket". If it's one of those no-name Ebay knock offs then anything is normal. Can't have quality on the cheap. If it's brand name you should contact he seller and complain.

Not ebay, just like ones you get from Advance auto parts, a honda one is like 350, this is like 80 bucks, works ok, just wanted to know if the fittings are supposed to be bent.

those brass lines on the bottom are for an automatic if u have a manual transmission u will leave these plugged. if its an automatic u can also could run an external transmission cooler which i would prefer anyway.

I replaced the radiator in my 98 Civic a couple of weeks ago. Mine's a manual. I also bought my new radiator from Auto Zone, about $80. I had the same question about their purpose, and found it's for automatic transmission cooling, and I just left them capped and unused. If you are able to unscrew them from the radiator, that would be ok to do.

I have to ask. Did you not observe how the old radiator was hooked up before you took it off?

I didn't do the work, I had a shop do it back in the spring, and then I noticed a little wet underneath right by one of the trans lines.

those small brass lines hold AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID it pumps out of the transmission from the tq convertor through the cooler under the radiator back into the transmission. as i said before its better to run an external tranny cooler u can get them form autozone for 30 buxs and it wont be soaking heat from ur radiator
