Radiator fan wiring

Radiator fan wiring
Does anybody know where im supposed to wire the radiator fan? I accidentaly stepped on a wire when i was moving my car a couple of nights ago (very stupid of me) and now the radiator fan no longer turns on when the car is in the on position. If i touch the wire to the battery the fan comes on, but when i put the key in the on position, the fan no longer comes on like it used to. I know the fan does not necessarily be on, but i drove it around today and there was a little amount of smoke coming from the radiator area. Any help would be really great.
Did a good amount of searching and found out nothing about this smoke . . . can anybody help me?

i accidentally stepped on it as i said earlier it still has the connector on the end, but i have no idea what to connect it to
