Default radiator fan, is it really that necessary?

what's the downside of not having a radiator fan? would my car overheat for sure?

yeah it will overheat, unless you never stop moving.

dude please explain why you would even have considered removing it. weight reduction? seriously the things some people come up with. Im waiting for someone to ask if they would see any gains by draining their oil pan.

You must have one awful setup, it is like 30 or 40 here and in stop and go my temp gauge climbs about halfway to when the fan will come on.

Normal driving in the winter it barely moves. Stock del sol.

My radiator doesn't have the fan/assembly and my temp is always about 1/4th

proven that it can be done! well, it wasnt as stupid a question as it looked (I put a Mugen intake on my car and was curious if I could go without the fan for for a bit until the new slimner one came in) but I got it to work with the stock fan and A/C in my EM1.

He lives in washington, you live in ca, potential very large temperature difference there. You also have to pass emmissions, good luck not overheating on that. But hey, it's your car, not like high temps are bad or anything.

my coolant fan temp switch went out last winter and i didnt even notice until early spring when i was driving the **** out of it and it started to overheat at lights, but if i revved up it would cool down again.

since then i ghetto rigged it, put a paperclip to jumper the switch and now the fans are always on, takes FOOOOOOOREVER to heat up but eh
