Why not just fix the issue in the first place? So the fan comes on when it is designed to.
Not trying to be an ***, but why go through the work of wiring something that shouldn't be wired in the first place?

You might want to replace the Coolant Fan Switch on the thermostat housing those switches either fail both ways. They will stay open loop or closed loop! So try replacing it. Obviously the fan motor works just fine cuz its on but the relay controling it could be open and not cutting the circuit when the switch sends the signal. Don't skimp out on trying to run the fan off a toggle switch usually the fan switch runs u like $25 at Autozone and the relay maybe something around $10 -$20!
