Radiator cap not relieving pressure
Hey guys, looking for some help/insight with this,
I recently had to replace my radiator, I ended up just using an OEM replacement my friend had laying around, never used, one of the replacement ones from Advance Auto. Everything's good and all except for the cap. It's fairly tight on the radiator, and when the engine's cool if I crack it loose a bit it then relieves a lot of pressure into the overflow tank. Isn't the cap supposed to pressurize and relieve the pressure when it heats up/cools down? If i start the car up with this pressure on it it seems like it takes forever to warm up as well. The cap is the OE one I've always had. Maybe get a new cap that fits? Or even a known OE rad perhaps?

Anyway, the cap is meant to hold some pressure but I've never heard of coolant going into the overflow tank when the cap is opened on a cold engine. Maybe start with a new cap and see if that fixes the problem -- they are pretty cheap.
