Rad Cap Styles, I need a 1.3 but theres so many styles
Hey guys, Im trying to buy a rad cap for a full aluminum dual core half sized rad I bought. It didnt come with a rad cap.
I look on ebay for 1.3 bar cap and some many different styles and measurements come up, small neck big neck 15mm 9mm 13mm, different shaped heads etc.
Which do we use?
My friend has a half sized but his is a standard type rad, and he uses a cap that has "squared" tabs on the sides, where some I see have fully rounded tabs. He says I need the squared one...
True? Any insight?

Did you ever test you coil correctly? I went out my way and made a video for you.
Do you have a mechanic/auto shop you like? He should have a coolant pressure test kit like this. Find the one that fits your radiator. Take the one adapter to your auto store and match it.

So, what makes you think you need a 1.3 Bar radiator cap, and what makes you think a standard Honda Civic cap won't work?

Im not here to debate that, but the car is turbocharged and needs a higher pressure cap.
All i need to know with this thread is what type style and size will FIT

Do you want a picture of mine. I don't if it will be of much help. I can put a ruler next to it if you want.
dunno what to tell you. I don't think they make radiator caps with dimensions stamped on them like they do your drive belts.

Did this radiator ever work? I have installed so many radiators, one time I had one that the mounting point was just so ever slightly off. It took a while to figure out because off course since it was a NEW radiator we did not think that was the problem.

fullsize can zoom. this what i was talking about. both caps are the same size but one is deeper than the other. The one on the right is for the civic.

hmmmm so how do people buy aftermarket caps not knowing?
Im sure by looking at my rad neck that I would need the low one you pictured, but not psitive it would fit. Hmmm
This is alot more difficult than i expected

For every cap I ever bought I had to say I need a radiator cap for year make model ( 1994 mazda RX-7 ).
If you have an aftermarket radiator you should contact them and ask them what you are suppose to put on there.

Re: Rad Cap Styles, I need a 1.3 but theres so many styles
Just wondering how it didn't come with a cap. I've bought 2 Eaby rads and they had caps.
Would explain why I've never heard of anyone having this problem before. But you're right.

I got it brand new off of craigslist and the guy said hes had it for years, it was mint condition in box. Just came with no cap, or stampings on the rad to give away brand name or anything
What would a safe bet for a style/type of cap for it be?

He wasnt a friend, it was off craigslist
I did try the junkyard, and one off a del sol seems to fit the best, but there were no civic caps at all
Not sure what to do here

I thought this was what your friend told you? Ask him to help you source out this cap he claims you need. Otherwise you're just going to have to take a chance and spend some coin.

Would a cap for a 1992-1995 civic 1.6L not work? Is there any difference?
My car is not down, Im obviously not going to swap rads without having a working cap. I might have to ignore your advice to buy another rad, thats just nonsence.
Im just asking for specifically which one I need, figured it would be common knowledge to people that actually own half sized dual core rads.
Thats all im asking for
