R-1 Ground Wire Install
Does anyone know or know where to get a layout of where the different ground wires form this kit should be hooked up to. I know that it starts fromt he battery and goes out to other different possible ground locations within the engine bay, but I just do not know "exactly" where they should hook up. I have seen some where they are hooked up to the place around the valve cover....i was just wandering if I could get some hlep with this...by the way, it is a 95 civic ex coupe...thanks for the input!
p.s. i already tried posting this in the tech forum, but didnt get much feedback, so just givin it a try here and hoping for better results. thanks!

There are usually 4 ideal grounding points:
bolt on vtec solenoid (any)
thermostat housing
throttle body
intake mainfold
You can make this "earthing" kit yourself about $20 IM me if you need pics, I can get them later tonight.

Re: R-1 Ground Wire Install (powerBan.est1990)
i have the same motor as you and i put the grounds on
1. intake manifold 2. vtec solenoid 3. tranny 4. alternator 5. valve cover
i made it myself for pretty cheap too

For those that asked about the grounding here are the points I used. (note: other points that conduct electrical current can be used as well such as the alternator, tranny ground etc). You can do this for about 20 bucks.
What you need:
about 14 feet of 8 gauge wire ( which were measured from the battery to the chosen grounding point)
4 8 gauge gold plated terminals (for your grounding points)
2 4 gauge gold plated terminals ( to merge two 8 gauge wires to ground at the battery)
soldering iron and solder
Here is the t-body ground:
The ground for the intake manifold:
vtec solenoid:
thermostat ground:
all grounded back to the negative side of the battery:
notice that there are four wires going back to the battery, each 2 wires share one 4 gauge connector.

Start up is alot smoother as well as acceleration. It won't give you gobs of power as stock honda grounding is done fairly well, and cars with alot of electronics would probably see better gains, but for $20 it was better than the AEM pulleys I bought.

Very cool, did you just pick this stuff up at a car audio place?

Re: R-1 Ground Wire Install (powerBan.est1990)
Why do you ground it to the battery? it seems to me that spreading out the grounds would be better... 1 to the rad support, 1 to the inner frame wells, 1 to the passenger strut bolt, 1 to the driver strut bolt, 1 to the firewall... that seems like it would spread out the grounding system better, causing less interference.

ATTN: EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously go to Home Depot to get ground wire\ power wire. 2 guage is like 57c a foot and it is THE SAME as what you would be getting at any Audio Install shop. So 8 guage is like 27c or somthing. Its insulated copper wire, and AWG measured. I almost had a heart attack when i say it, and was really pissed I spent $35 for 15' of 4 guage a year ago. So make this DIY more like $5 tops!

well, i wasnt going to do it when it was that hot, but it says "...engine must be COLD for installation..." or something like that, but there was a lot of emphasis on the cold part...oh well, i guess i will try it and see what happens....thanks again!
