Default Quickie: Clutch fluid

Hey all,

I'm due to change my clutch fluid and just wanted to know what most of you use?
Any random dot 3 fluid or is there something specific that hondas prefer?

Yes, normal dot 3 will work, no reason to over pay for something honda puts a label on. As 90Rexx, you are supposed to change your brake and clutch fluid at least every 2 years. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, and causes your lines to rust from within.

because dot 3/4 brake fluid will absorb moisture in the air over time and it's a precautionary thing to change it every once in a while

thats what i use i don't see a point in spending an extra $10-$15 for the same thing but with a honda label on it just remeber that when you change it to check all the rubber parts cause if you added anything thats petroleum based they will swell up

i understand why you need to... but i was more concerned with whether or not the OP was having a problem which he thought new clutch fluid would solve....

Perhaps equally as bad, hydraulic brakes/clutches work best when the fluid within the lines are 'incompressible' and having moisture/air (a compressible fluid) within your lines makes your pedals feel mushier than mashed potaters. On my way to buy some dot3 myself, as well as some food....
