Quick tranny swap engine question
Ok, just got done putting in a 96 DX tranny on my 94 EX D16Z6. I have only drove the car twice and my question is where should the redline be now? Is it the same as before at 7200, because now it seems to be making some kind of noise around 6500 to 7000 and I dont want to mess anything up so I'm not gonna just go out and drive it around. I was hoping someone here has done this swap or has some information they could share and let me know. Thanks.

Re: Quick tranny swap engine question (Civic_EX)
why would your redline change when you put a different tranny in? That makes no sense at all. Your redline is the same as before. Why did you swap out the tranny? Is it cause your ex one is broken? Cause if not your car is going to be a whole, hell of a lot more slower now. As far as the noise? Maybe its your "new" tranny.

Re: Quick tranny swap engine question (ef9_sir)
1. I swapped the tranny knowing in advance that it would be slower, but my EX tranny was gone, grinded gears, I had no 3rd, and the clutch was slipping. Rather than spending a **** load of money for a new one, I bought my friends spare for 30 bucks.
2. I know the motor can rev up to 7200, but when I tried to redline it made some sort of noise like the kind when you hit the governer. Its pretty late right now so I'm waiting until tomarrow to test it again.
3. So once again i am asking if swapping the tranny would make a difference as far as redline goes.
