Quick Tip...
If you smell something that smells like a hot dead rat, look for coolant leaks.
Coolant burning off of the engine block after it's been sprayed out of your cracked to **** radiator smells remarkably like a dead rat being roasted on the engine.
(I know this because a friend had a rat crawl into his heating system and die, so for about 5 months while I got rides to school with him, we got to smell hot dead rat.)
Good thing replacing radiators isn't that hard.
