Quick questions reguarding my old B18C5 set-up
I recently sold my 94 Civic EX with a "healthy" B18C5 Type-r swap, mated to a B16 trans. I rarely ran the car, but when I did, it felt minutes slower than my past B-swapped honda's.
I know the Type r has bigger cams/higher compression/ bigger intake/etc., so when I raced a stock GSR Integra, I was expecting to pull him lengths on him. Well, the race went as follows,
First-Second, dead even, I maybe pulled a bumper on him, but as far I could tell, we were side by side.
Third gear, he pulls about half a car length on me. I am now to his back bumper, and starting to fall behind.
Fourth gear, there is now like a 5' gap between my front bumper, and his rear bumper.
I shut it down at about 100mph.
Now, I keep hearing people talk about how I should have stompped him despite my ultra short B16 gears. My car didnt smoke at all, always ran perfect, ran Mobil1+Oem plugs. Last owner mentioned the clutch was bad, but it never slipped...
I always figured it was my gearing that made me lose that race... Others have told me I should have still won. Does gearing matter that much, or could there have been something wrong with my engine?
This was my first B16 trans. Ive always owned a GSR trans so I kind of expect a powerband that doesnt die out after 70mph... Dont know if this is the case with every B16 trans, but my friend with a full B16 swap had the same problem in his hatchback.
