Default QUICK QUESTION! - Whats the redline in a 96 DX hatchy?

Just picked this car up last week, it has no stock tach and Im putting one in today. None of my friends have a stock DX motor and they arent sure about the redline. A few sites say 7100 but a few people on here say 6500-6800. Anyone know what it is exactly so I can program the tach?

i believe the 7100 is for the ex model. off the top of my head, the redline starts at 6800 in a non-vtec.

are you talking about where the redline starts, or where it cuts off?

Well you can test the redline at that rpm range and see what happens.

see, im getting different answers from everyon lol I figured that site was accurate because looking at the GS-R engine I knew its redline was 8200 and its 170hp@7600... I just wanted to get some solid answers to make sure I dont set it higher than redline.

D16s all redline at 6800.

Even if the tach climbs higher.
Here is proof with my recently dyno'd D16Y8 vs. another Y8 dyno'd just before.

^ That's what I would do. It's not gonna hurt anything as long as you still have the stock rev limit.
