Default quick question bout engine

when choosing a motor for a swap what is better:

to have a motor that can rev high, have a great tranny, and to have vtec but have no tourque such as the b16a2

or

have a motor that has decend tourque, no vtec, crappy tranny and cant rev that high such as the b18b.

with those options, which would be the best to start out with. which outweighs the other. im just looking for a fun daily driver and a noticeable increase in power from my sohc. i dont wanna swap and be dissapointed right away. its going into a 97 ek coupe. and will add mods in the future

It sounds to me that you like the B16 better then the LS, just the way you compare the 2.

The ls is a fun daily driver, but the tranny blows ***. The b16 has no torque but it'll still be an upgrade from your y8, but once you hit vtec, you'll be glad you chose the b16.

The tranny you use will make a night and day difference, but any b tranny will work with either motor. If I were you, I would pick the engine you want, and worry about the tranny later if you don't like it.

im just looking for a great engine to start out with i will ba n/a for a while. ls/vtec sounds like an option but im around 2500 budget. i just wasnt sure if starting out with more tourque in stock form is better than strating out with more horsepower.
