Quick question about my idle issues
I've spent the last couple days searching old topics on this, but im left with a question. My idle seems to be jumping up and down. I took off my iacv, and cleaned it out, and it seemed to help, it doesnt rev up and down anymore all the time. Instead now it seems to do it when the motor is cold, and eventually stops. This would mean that it could be my fitv thats the culprit of my idle issues. Now is where my question comes in. Is there anyway I could diagnose my fitv BEFORE I have to take it off? I have a 1993 Civic Si.
And also, those 3 bolts under the fitv seem to be almost impossible to reach, is there any easier way to remove this thing?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Quick question about my idle issues (JACER63)
Dont have a check engine light. Unless im just stupid and missing something.
All i've done so far to help fix this problem is: Remove and clean iacv, burp radiator. Next I want to diagnose the fitv before I remove it. Only problem is, I dont see how to get to the 3 bolts underneath it, without removing a bunch of ****.

its the iacv, most of the time cleaning doesnt fix it, if theres no vaccum leaks then its the iacv.

Re: Quick question about my idle issues (s2kdre)
I thought the iacv controlled the idle once the car was warmed up? If thats the case, then I dont think thats the problem, because the car doesnt do it anymore after its warmed up since I cleaned out the iacv. Now it only does it on the warm up, which I figured was controlled by the fitv. I mean I could be wrong, but thats the way I thought it worked.

Might be your FITV. Easiest way is to remove your throtttle body then take off your FITV. Once it is off remove the cap and adjust. Hope it helps!

Any easier way than having to take off the whole tb? Im at the firestation (work) right now, and dont want to screw up the seal and end up not being able to put a new one back on.

Ok just noticed this. When I take off the intake, and cover that hole inside the tb, its sucking pretty strong, and when I cover it with my finger, the car idle comes down to normal. What does this mean? Is it the fitv? What if I just plug that hole all together?

Okay, nevermind. I took apart the fitv, and gave that **** a good cleaning, then screwed the spring down all the way tight, and the car has never idled so perfect before since I bought it. It sits a steady 800 rpms. Damn, a stupid little screw that needed to be tightened was giving me all this grief for over a month now. hehe, thanks for the replies, well some of them.
