Quick question about IMA sensor.

Quick question about IMA sensor.
I had CEL 11 ever since swap is done, I simply couldnt be bothered with it. However, DOHC ZC with no cat obviously, ECU is looking for IMA sensor. How important is it to have it, does it adjust fuel trim in any shape or form? I can easily source one but just wondering what the hell it does in the first place? I know what O2 sensors do, they adjust everything based on fuel in exhaust chamber, or I got that wrong too? Thanks.

You should search better.

Re: Quick question about IMA sensor.
Base off that thread, your ecu is looking for it for emission purpose. But cant findthe sensor, the sensor use o2 to measure fuel mixture. For states that required emission like, california among others, will determine if you can get your tag renew or not. Pass then yes. Since you arent as concern with emission then find an appropriate ecu which does not look for the sensor then you will be fine. How much i depth are you trying to look into the ima and emission? Apparently ecu swap is the easiest remedy. Assuming you can find one. Or buy the sensor and wire it up.

Re: Quick question about IMA sensor.
So buy and install the sensor or find an ecu that does not use the sensor. Or get a chipped ecu with a map that does not use the sensor. Then you will be fine. Performance will be good.

So yes it affects performance? Basically my car will run better with that sensor?

Re: Quick question about IMA sensor.
Is IMA sensor basically an o2 sensor on modern cars? When I look to buy a new IMA sensor I get "O2 sensor blabla IMA sensor Civic etc". Anyone has part number? I see all o2 sensor has that square 4pin connector just like mine has ... I'm confused not sure what to buy ...

Take a look at this:

If you are still stuck... how about running a USDM '94-95 P74/P75 ECU and installing a 4-wire O2 sensor and move on.

Re: Quick question about IMA sensor.
All info posted can be found searching the net. But some how you still cant find it. I already send you a link in pm. You can try that. If you still want to run ima sensor. Frankly, its less work to get a chipped ecu that will not look for the sensor. Or convert it to O2 sensor like what he said above. Or find pm7 ecu that does not seek the ima sensor.
