quick question about flanges
I have a test pipe with a 2.5 inch flange for my 2.5 inch jdm header, If i get a new header with a 2.25 outlet will the 2.5 inch flange work or do I have to switch out the flange?

well, the header im looking at tonight is 2.25, im removing my 2.5 inch header because it has a hole, so I was wondering if the flage would be ok with the 2.25 inch header

Re: (Shaun)
the flanges should bolt up perfectly from header to your test pipe, unless your header/test pipe weren't made specifially for your car. the rpoblem you are going to have is going from 2.25" header to 2.5" test pipe.

If you have a header with a 2.5" collector, the replacement you're buying will probably not be the same length anyway, so you'll most likely still need to modify your test pipe. By the way, what header are you looking at that has a 2.25" collector? Almost every header I know either has a 2.00" collector (standard "USDM" size) or a 2.5" ("JDM size).

the test pipe is custom made for my car for use with the 2.5 inch header, the header I picked up tonight is a dc 4-2-1 with a smaller outlet than my 2.5 inch out let, and Im wondering if it would bolt up to my 2.5 inch test pipe, since the outlet on the header is smaller

The flared flange will probably form a seal with the new collector (which, as I suspected, is 2" rather than 2.25") but as I mentioned, the JDM header is most likely a different length than the new header and could require the test pipe length to be adjusted anyway.

ok , ill let you know what happens, im either putting it on tommorow, or saturday, so JDM headers are longer than USDM headers?

Re: (Shaun)
It all depends on which other header you're comparing the JDM one with. In some cases, the difference might be small enough that you won't have a problem, but in others (for example, '94-'99 GS-R), the difference is significant.
