i got a simple question , is there any special timing or gear adjustment required when installing a distributer for a 94 Civic 1.5L, d15b8 to be exact. I know older cars required this. But I'm not sure. I bought a book, Chilton's 92-95Civic's manual but aperantly it doesnt show me. Is it best to just pay the mechanic or it's just a quick bolt on?

A better title would have been:

"Diztributor replacement on D15 - Do I need to adjust timing?"

Anyways what you can do (assuming the timing is correct in the first place) is note where your current distributor is at in the slots and set the replacement in the same position. Also take note that the key on the end of the distributor only goes in one way in the camshaft, so don't force it in if it doesn't fit in snugly enough. Rotate the key 180 degrees and try it again.

Then I'd take it to a local shop with a timing light and have them double check the timing.

Why are you replacing the dist. in the first place?
