Default quick question??

when i first got my car there was no motor, hence no battery or anything. The cluster read that there was a quarter tank of gas. Now my motor is all plugged but not yet started, but i plugged in the batter and rehooked up a cluster. The gas tank needle now reads empty. Does that mean it is empty?? Or was the first reading of a quarter tank right.

p.s also i did take the cluster out and manuel put it at zero before pluging it back up, thinking it would resed anyway so it wouldnt matter.

well do you know how to get the old gas out without burning it with the engine??

if so, just do that.. i'm sure if you know how to get the gas out... you'll find out if there is gas to get out when you try to get it out!!!!

and yeh, theres gotta be SOME gas in there right?

How long has it been since the car was used? If it was over a long period of time that gas that you had when you first had it could be gone now because it evaporated.

if you bought the car from a junkyard, i know out where i live they usually empty the gas tanks out. so that reading on the cluster could be how much gas was in the car last time the cluster had voltage going to it.

yes there is a bolt to drain the tank dude. and if you bought it as a shell that fuel reading was probably from when it had power last, a couple years ago.

I think he knows that.

What you could do is borrow a little siphone(sp) pump from someone and jack the car up to one side and try and suck the gas out, that is if there is any. But I would suggest getting rid of that gas no matter what. Gas that has been sitting for more than 2 years is definitley going to **** up your engine.

So why not just drain the tank and put gas in it?
