Right, having spent a week adjusting my 138,000mile neglected valves on my D16Z6 it finally runs brilliant but as a compromise seems a little noisy, tappety that is. I'm running 10w40 at present, question is would 15w40 high mileage oil like Castrol Magnatec help my old engine quieten down?

for sure it will not do anything to make your engine sound better, recommendation is either 10w30 or 10w40 depending on the weather, i am sure you can use 15w 40, but i am sure it will have no affect on your engine noise

I would stick with the recommended viscosity of 5W-30.
