i did mine with like a gunmetal color instead of a black...i think it was pretty glossy but it doesnt reflect everything it looks nice...its almost the color of the ctr headlights its just a little darker...but i think that a gunmetal color looks better than a black....and i would reccomend a glossy color instead of the flat black...just my .02 hope this helps you out

i think regular paint is okay because the housing doesnt get very hot when the lights are on.

you are always supposed to leave the silver area in the turnsignal otherwise it won't shine right. Anyways, i used the gunmetal, go to pepboys or autozone and look for a color called graphite gray, you will be very happy with it.

I painted the turn signal area black, it shines just as good, besides the turn signale doesn't need the reflection to be seen, even if the back half of the bulb itself were blacked out, it would still work well enough to be seen by other motorists.
Personally I think it looks better if you paint the turn signal part, but that is just my $.02

how are you guys pulling the lights apart and resealing? I've seen it posted before that you can put the lights in the oven for about 5 mins and pry apart, however my mother in law burned up our oven.
A friend that used to work at honda said you can also use a microwave, just remove all the metal first. Has anyone tried this one? The wife is worried that the reflective material in the housing will fry the micro.

goto a hobby shop, or home depot.. buy a heat gun, or a hair dryer.. may take a lil longer, but i didnt even do that, cause i was in a rush, i just used a blade, and cut most of the silicon off.. and used to screw drivers starting from the bottom.. and would spread it out, and cut.. took a lot long but it worked, took me about an hour per headlight to break apart.. it worked though.
as for painting the trun signal part, my $.02 is to do it. i think it looks a lot better.

Re: a quick headlight question. (h00kup)
i used a hair dryer....i would also reccomend another set of hands...my friend blow dried and i pryed apart with a butter knife and screwdriver....as for resealing i used some silicony stuff....use clear though it looks nicer when you open the hood i used white and it looks good on the outside but on the inside its nasty....but ya try a blowdryer and a screwdriver take your time though dont pull it apart too hard cause you might crack the headlights ...very unlikely but just keep it on the safe side.....have fun hope this helps

Re: a quick headlight question. (CiRcUiTsi)
when i did mine, i used a flat black base coat and misted it with satin black. it gave it a real stock plastic look. lasted a long time, too.
as far as separation, i used a hair dryer (takes forever) and sat the two halves in front of a space heater before reassembling to soften the adhesive. then take black silicone and run a bead around the edge, trimming the excess off with something stiff (like a credit card) while making sure to get it in the seam. i never had condensation issues afterwords.
